The Woodstock Artists Association & Museum (WAAM) presents an intimate group exhibition curated by Yael Eban and Jackie Hoving, co-directors of Tiger Strikes Asteroid NY, titled House & Universe. Featuring the works of Tania Alvarez, Sean Corcoran, Todd Kelly, Jiatong Lu, Claire Sherwood, Mimi Young, Gabriel Zimmer, & Deborah Zlotsky. This timely presentation is organized around the concept of Art Brut, a theme associated with a distancing from the mainstream. The exhibition comprises work by 25 artists, selected through a national call and juried by Nicelle Beauchene and Franklin Parrasch, co-founders of Parts & Labor in Beacon. Exhibit runs thru 7/18. A lecture exploring the lives and careers of the early pioneer sculptors of Woodstock; Abastenia St. Leger Eberle, Grace Mott Johnson, Florence Lucius, Myra Musselman-Carr, and Bruno Zimm. Dr. Bruce Weber received his Ph.D. in art history at the Graduate School of the City University of New York. He has published widely and curated numerous exhibitions.
