Zoom Workshop to Aid in the Detection of Invasive Pests & Diseases
June 16, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am
A citizen science online workshop to help the Hudson Valley Region detect invasive pests and diseases is being offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County.
The training will prepare individuals such as gardeners, landscapers, hikers and forest managers to scout for these pests and diseases. Reporting their presence and stopping the spread is urgently needed as the summer months begin. The workshop includes identification, potential damage, methods of spread, and monitoring and management of the pests and diseases. Trainees will asked to be the “boots on the ground” to assist in detection and reporting using the state’s Department of Environmental Conservations IMapInvasives mobie app.
This is a Lower Hudson Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management’s program.
