Frog and Salamander Search for Adults and Teens at Minnewaska

Join Laura Conner, Environmental Educator and Vanessa Pagano, Student Conservation Association/AmeriCorps Environmental Educator, on a hike for adults and teens to look for salamanders, frogs, and their eggs at vernal pools. Early spring is the ideal time to find amphibians, as this is their breeding season. Attendees will have the opportunity to be citizen scientists and amphibian scientists, known as herpetologists. They’ll learn how to complete amphibian monitoring forms, as well as where to find and submit them.Please bring shoes you don’t mind getting wet or dirty. This program is recommended for high schoolers and adults. Teens must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. This program is dependent on the proper weather conditions and may need to be rescheduled if snow persists. Due to COVID protocols, the total number of participants for this program is limited to nine individuals. All participants must wear face coverings or keep a minimum six-foot distance away from others who are not part of their immediate household. This program will meet at the Peter’s Kill Park Office.
