Roll into spring with the Y

March 25 @ 11:00 am

Get rolling this spring with three bicycling programs sponsored by the YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County. First up is a free bicycle repair clinic on Saturday, March 25. Visit the Y parking lot on Pine Grove Avenue in Kingston between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to have your bike checked over.

No advance registration required. The event is free, but donations are welcome. Be sure to bring your bike. In case of bad weather, the rain date is Sunday, March 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Friday and Saturday, March 31 to April 1, the Y will be presenting a biking class for adults called smart cycling. It will develop your confidence to ride a bike, whatever your level of ability. It’s been designed for those who have been riding for years, as well as those who are just thinking about getting on (or back on) a bike. Ages 16 and up are invited to join the class. It includes four hours of classroom training (5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31) and five hours of on-bike activities starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, concluding with a group ride on the streets of Kingston.

Registration is open at https://tinyurl.com/ymcass23. The cost is $50 and closes on March 27.

Bike It!, the Y’s biking program for kids aged 10-15 begins on Saturday April 22. The program runs from 9 a.m. to noon and will continue for eight weeks through June 10. Each session includes instruction in bicycle safety or maintenance, as well as a bike ride.

Register online at: https://ymcaulster.org/bicycle-programs/. The cost is $50 for YMCA members and $75 for non-members.
