Facilitated haiku writing circle series at Gardiner Library

September 13 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Gardiner Library will present a facilitated (non-traditional) haiku writing circle with Carol Bergman. This ten-week series starts Tuesday, September 13 from 12 to 1 p.m. The cost is $100.
A haiku is three simple lines. Writing haikus is a practice. It distills emotion, sharpens the mind and creates a sensation of mindfulness and serenity. There will be readings of Japanese and Western haiku practitioners, prompts and sharing of drafts. All are welcome. You do not have to be a writer to practice haiku.
Bergman, a writing professor and journalist, is the co-owner of Mediacs, an independent publishing company in New Paltz. Her journalism, fiction and narrative nonfiction has been in numerous publications in the US and abroad.
For more information and registration, visit www.gardinerlibrary.org. The library is located at 133 Farmer’s Turnpike.
