Climate Action pop-ups and workshop

September 21, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Town and Village of New Paltz have pledged to be Climate Smart communities — to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, prepare for climate change and save taxpayers money. The Climate Smart Task Force has undertaken a number of activities to learn where and how we are generating greenhouse gas emissions in New Paltz. Now the next step is to create a Community Climate Action Plan, a strategy for reducing greenhouse gases — a strategy that is by the community and for the community.

How do you want to deal with greenhouse gas emissions? Here are opportunities to say what you think:

September: Pop-ups at the Open Air Market, SUNY Farmers’ Market, Movie Night at Hasbrouck Park, Repair Café, Applestock, Elting Library Fair, etc. There will be posters and lots of post-its and pens for you to give your thoughts on how individuals and our community as a whole can tackle the reduction of greenhouse gases and fight the climate crisis.

October: A community workshop on October 11 at the Town Community Center from 7 to 9 p.m. Come out to voice your opinions and thoughts regarding energy, resiliency and adaptation, waste reduction/recycling, transportation and mobility, smart growth/land use and more!

Light refreshments will be provided. For additional information, contact Janelle Peotter at newpaltzclimatesmart@gmail.com or call 920-883-1788.
