Citizen science program at Elting Memorial Library

March 30 @ 7:00 pm

A citizen science program with Ulster County’s Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network (CoCoRaHS) coordinator Nora Quinlan will be held on March 30, 7 p.m., at Elting Memorial Library. Learn about weather observation and how to note and report precipitation conditions.

CoCoRaHS is a nationwide, non-profit, community-based network of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, hail and snow). By using low-cost measurement tools, stressing training and education, and utilizing an interactive website, its aim is to provide the highest quality data for natural resource, education and research applications.

CoCoRaHS’s reports and data are used by the The National Weather Service, other meteorologists, hydrologists, emergency managers, city utilities (water supply, water conservation, storm water), insurance adjusters and educators.

The library is located at 93 Main Street in New Paltz. For additional information, call 845-255-5030
